I got some good feedback from Chuck W. so I am going to go back to the "studio" and try to tighten it up.

First one is "Even When We Under (We Roll)
I downloaded a beat by Rem'z Instroz and then wrote some lyrics..lol

Well I sat down with the mission in mind, but decided on this beat because it's pretty unique!! Then I typed and typed and typed with kiddies running round...

The hook is me with a distorted effect..and the sample is my with a vinyl effect...

I am going to tweek somethings...so this is the first run I supposed...

For those of you who follow me on Twitter (Metah4) may find the lyrics familiar. It is actually a poem I did a long time ago. I have been trying to figure out what to do with it and was finally given a chance when Imk N' Lead Productions gave me one of the beats they weren't using! yay!

This one is about what we are doing to our planet and ourselves! When I wrote this, I was upset about watching American Idol and seeing their America Gives Back series they do...I guess I felt we should always be giving back, not waiting for Ryan Seacrest to tell us...

2 Sides Of Creepy

I had the pleasure of watching two movies last night on IFC that I have recorded to watch later using the DVR service on my cable box. The movie choices where Henry:Portrait of a Serial Killer and Ravenous.

Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer:
This movie was something...hmmm kinda unnerving. I wouldn't call it the best thriller or the best crime inspired movie ever made. There were points where I wanted to connect with the main character Henry. You know find out why he killed. There is an explanation of sorts during a past bearing conversation with his friend's sister, but other than that, it is hard to connect with the killer himself. He seems to have morals in there somewhere, but his need to kill outweighs them. I think if the movie was made over (if it hasn't been), another director would be able to delve more into his mind, make us in a way kill with him and see why he is compelled in a deeper sense. Now on the flip side, not knowing one hundred percent why he is a nut...(well we know why, but as is shown in the movie, bad things happen to other folks and they don't go around strangling, knifing, and raping folks), makes the movie a bit more creepy. I found myself kind of on the edge of the couch like...is he going to do it? Or won't he? You can tell his preference of victims, which the director shows well, but you never know what this guy might do..even though you see it coming..lol I started out not really liking the movie, but by the end I was intrigued some. I even erased it from the DVR....I am kinda disappointed that I did. I usually try to watch a movie twice if it had piqued my interest before I decided o scrap it...but I wanted to get to the next movie which was...

Ravenous:
Now this movie had my head cocked to the side all the way through. I even found myself laughing at some parts (not out loud, more like an inner chuckle). The musical score throughout the film is something between creepy and funny. Imagine someone had it in their head that by eating your flesh they could live a healthier and carefree life. Well in this movie, the main character is faced with his own cannibalism experience and the one he is about to go through. After being sent off because of his actions during the war, he is left with a strange group who then wind up in the clutches of a madman...or is he? Well I think he is, but after watching this movie, I was thinking that maybe a little human wouldn't be so bad to try in a stew after all...LMAO just kidding. I don't eat red meat..heheheh. This movie gives an answer to the question of what lengths would you go to survive and is the answer your choose..eat to live...or starve and die, a cowards answer or one of courage. Is giving into the primal urge to survive an easy way out, or is breaking down those values we have been instilled with as a society even harder to do?

They Drew First Blood...

Now I know this may come as a surprise...but I just saw Rambo: First Blood for the first time... I am 26 and I have never seen this movie until tonight. I must say, the first part of the movie was not the greatest in the world. I sat through it because I like explosions and I like assholes getting what they deserve. The best part of the movie was the end. The speech, if you can call it that, by Silvester Stallone actually made me cry...yeah okay I cried watching Rambo.

The reason why? I cried because there were so many men who went to Vietnam and came back so messed up in the head. They came from a place where you made friends just to watch them die. A place where kids, women, men, elderly...anyone could be your enemy and one false judgment or hesitation meant you weren't coming home. They came home to a country who looked at them and blamed them for a war it's people did not agree with. Then they were expected to go about life as though nothing happened.

Though man people to poke fun at Stallone's particular speech partern, it actually added to the feeling and the desperation John Rambo felt...his confusion and exasperation...I liked it...

I am glad I didn't see it when I was a kid...I don't think I would have appreciated it as much..

What We Have Here Is A Failure To Communicate...

Cool Hand Luke...
Seems as though I have graduated in my movie viewing. While watching Cool Hand Luke, I could not help but notice two things. One, the amazing resemblance to One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest, and two, the AMAZING camera shots throughout!

I am very sure that the director of One Flew studied Cool Hand and decided to make a more modern version. Both are excellent movies! The camera shots used in this movie and their placement in the film are amazing and skillful. They enhance the story and help to tell the story visually..which I guess would be the same as saying it enhanced it..lol

Since becoming interested in movies and video, I have noticed that I can no longer sit back and watch a movie with analyzing it. This is a good and a bad thing. Movies that I have seen a million times, I am now pulling them apart scene by scene, and movies I have seen for the first time, well it is hard to enjoy a movie fully when I am looking at the editing quality and angles and acting and....whew. I am learning to pull back though and get back to enjoying a good film..okay okay..so Die Hard is not the best film ever made, but who can resist a good blow up shoot up and dirty up movie!! Plus I have a weakness for a Bruce Willis movie..(even Color of Night)...

Well I have to get back to Striking Distance now...another Bruce Willis movie..wwwoooooo!!! (oh..and his acting sucks in this...lol)

A Newly Discovered StreetCar II

Stella, Blanche, Stanley, and Mitch....

I finally saw a classic i have heard about for just about as long as I can remember...A Street Car Named Desire.

This movie left me with mixed feeling..lol I didn't know who to like and who not to like!

Should I be mad that Stella went back to Stanely after his drunken fit?
Should I be mad that Blanche lied to her sister and was pretending to be something she was not?
Should I be upset that Mitch decided not to marry Blanche because she wasn't "clean" enough to bring to his mother?
Should I wanna go into the movie and punch the snuff out of Stanely for being a jackass and finally pushing Blanche over the edge?

Oh by the way, if you haven't seen this movie, maybe you shouldn't have read that...!

I liked this movie because it left me with these mixed feelings. I am no film critic by profession, but I do know when I like something, and this would be one of those movies I liked!!

I will have to take the time out to watch it again so I can look at it from a film makers POV. Now that I have watched the movie, I can now sit back and take something from in on an educational front :-)

I am still feeling the emotional rollercoaster, and it has been at least 8 min since I watched it..LMAO

The Night of The Hunter

WOW Turner Classic Movies is an excellent channel!

I just got finished watching this movie staring Robert Mitchum as a religious psychopath who finds out about a man's secret and decided to terrorize the man's kids to discover it... I won't tell much more. If you ever get to see this movie, you can sit back and appreciate it more if you understand that in 1955, movies like this were not widely accepted by the public. You will recognize many of the movies that took their premise from this one. The sad thing is that the director, Charles Laughton, decided to never make movies again because of the poor reception. I think that was a damn shame!! This movie was ahead of it's time for sure. If you liked Cape Fear, you'll appreciate this movie. Also remember that the subject matter involved was a VERY risky jump for Charles Laughton.

Make sure to watch the Black and White...it looks like it may be in color too...but the sinister feel is beter in Black and White..

I just got my camcorder in the mail today!

I did a little practice shooting with Boogie Baby and Boney O' Bones. It looks good even at night! I have to read up so I can have a better handle on how to operate it to its fullest, but reading manuals is something I LOVE doing...I like me some gadgets!

Once I have the operations down, then it is off to take shots for this music video. Which track is getting the honor??? hmmmm...I don't think I have mentioned it, so if not...a secret it will stay..muah hahahahahah... (evil laugh)

I gone and dun it!!

I made an investment in my visual future so to speak. I have had video in my head for awhile now, and have been getting to experience it more at my job. I have been telling myself..okay wait uuntil next year..but I can't wait any longer. Boney O' Bones and Boogie Baby have been itching to make a video and I can't take it any more!! So I want and got myself a little camcorder..it's not a preofessinal video camera, but it is somewhere to start until I can get what I want. This way I will be able to make videos for my music and practice what I like and don't like! If I don't get this creative bug out of me and into the open space, I think I will start to lose it!! LOL

So we'll see where this leads us!!!

I have finally found a a mic that is worth at least a little bit more than what I had before...!
Sooooooo (drum roll please)......

The lyrics for the beat Urban Village have finally been laid down!! It is now almost 3 AM and I have gotten it out there...!!!!

The lyrics called for the beat to have a name change as a song, so it is now "You Gon Make It Through." This one took me a good few hours to do, as I was oh so eager to get something done and not just sitting and waiting for a mic anymore...

Aight folks..
I had a chance this week to meet with one of my mentors Captain Planet...I guess it was good! Seeing him gave me a bit o' creative energy back in the bloodstream! From that I am making two new beats which hopefully will be done by this weekend...(fingers crossed). Her AIDS activism entails trying to reverse this discriminatory law & other practices that infringe on the quality of life for HIV+ people. As the gay marriage lightning rod strikes the nation, Michelle’s own relationship mirrors the divide within the LGBT community and she must decide whether to tie the knot with her girlfriend of 7 years. Michelle increasingly devotes herself to AIDS activism & her children (one is also HIV+) become teenagers who seek greater independence and she balances being a responsible single parent while remembering her own turbulent coming of age.
Determined to leave the Bronx and make Brooklyn her home so that she’s closer to her church & work, Michelle juggles an eviction and other housing issues so that she & her children have a better quality of life.

ABOUT THE FILMMAKER
Director/producer Hima B. is a queer South Asian who makes documentaries, narratives, & experimental videos that explore the intersections of race, immigration, gender, sexual orientation, labor, & economics, especially as they impact queer women. Her previous LGBT documentaries profiled sex workers, Asian/Pacific Islanders, & those impacted by domestic violence. And I Do Survive is a notable creative departure from her past work as she uses cinema vérité (capturing events as they happen in real time), interviews, & archival media, to create an intimate non-fictional portrait that delves deeply into her protagonists’ experiences.

New music folks...

Been a long time..I shouldnta left ya... I know I know...

I finally sat down and pushed out two tracks! This one is called Jazz Hands. The sample is Louis Armstrong's The Peanut Vendor. Then added few touches here and there...lemme know what you think!

I think I have been working my back skin off lately...and it has been taking away from my music time. I have been trying to stay away from the late night, but that seems to be the only time I have to get the music out of me... :-)

Well the next track will be ready soon. That one is one I would like to rhyme to...just gotta update the equip!!!
